World Wildlife Fund urges China to withdraw from G20 summit

China has not responded to a letter from the United Nations demanding that the country withdraw from the G20, the World Wildlife Foundation said in a statement on Wednesday.

The group urged China to “cease all military activities, including in the contested waters and airspace of the South China Sea,” and urged China’s Foreign Ministry to immediately suspend all military operations and cease all construction in the South and East China Seas.

“The letter was sent to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong on Friday.

China said the letter was “misleading” and said it had “strong objections” to its content.
